What does ijyoyo mean?

What does ijyoyo mean? Is ijyoyo a professional yo-yo player? Ijyoyo might be a professional yo-yo player… in a Netflix show possibly, but in real life no. ijyoyo is a commercial photographer based in Madison Wisconsin. So what does ijyoyo mean?

Well… ijyoyo is a combination of Isaias Jacobi’s initials (ij + yoyo) and “yo-yo”. So where does the yoyo come from?


Before creating graphic designs and photography, Isaias played a few online video games. This story start with the popular game Club Penguin.

Do you know the feeling when your username is taken for a website? Isaias’ favorite username at the age of 13 was taken. At 13 you have no choice but to create a new username. Isaias chose to create a new name “Yoyoer”.

The username made it’s way to YouTube videos, an early Instagram, Google + graphic design and photography pages, Facebook. Isaias’ online name caught on to his friends and others. They all shorted it to “yo-yo”.

When Isaias came to Instagram as a photographer the original photography account was named ij.visuals. However he wanted something that had followed him and what his friends also knew. It was a turning point to combine his online profiles and his “real” Instagram. He decided to change his username to something small “ij + yoyo”, easy.

Isaias would get called yoyo referring to the growing Instagram and passion for photography. He did not say his name yoyo often, either you knew it or you didn’t early on. Many of the early photographs were of landscapes and sunsets.



A huge turning point changed while attending his first major meetup in Milwaukee, Wisconsin during Hub Day. There he met Michael, Jacob, Ethan, Brian, Jack and many other Milwaukee Photographers. The name was easy to give to other people.

It soon caught on afterwards to use the name ijyoyo. Isaias has even added the Yo in yoyo as a greeting in the hopes that some one will say yo back.

From online video games to meetups. That is how Isaias got the name Ijyoyo.
